About the Tzitzit Tying Zine:
The Tzitzit tying guide has hand drawn instructions for Sephardic Tallit Katan, and Ashkenazi Tallit Gadol tying styles drawn by Anshl B. It also holds art, stories, and prayers from the makers, shepherds, and sheep that contributed to these tzitzit.
$5 from each zine sale goes to Roots of Resilience, an organization supporting West Bank farmers, preserving food systems, and advocating for Palestinian food sovereignty through mutual aid, education and solidarity.
About Strange Fire:
Strange Fire follows in the spirit of Nadab and Abihu with sacred offerings of Judaica, land stewardship, seed saving and fiber arts workshops that honor spirit through a deep relationship to the more than human world.
Strange Fire primarily serves queer and trans Jews that live on the fringes of diaspora on Turtle Island, reject genocide of Palestinians, and pray with their hands and hearts for the collective liberation of Indigenous Lands and Peoples and sovereignty for all lands and beings. At least 18% of our income goes to mutual aid – emergent Ukiah community needs, Palestinian land defenders, shepherds and farmers, and local tribal stewardship and wildfire resilience projects.
Shai Schnall (they/he) is a genderfull Ashkenazi Jewish ritualist and land tender. They find connection to the other than human world in relationship to sheep, fire resiliency, and art as a sacred practice. Shai is a shepherd, shearer, and Jewish educator/spiritual leader that specializes in trans rite of passage for all ages. They dreamed this project into existence as a way to offer Jewish mysticism as an offering to olam haba–the world to come.
