Welcome in the beginning of the astrological cycle with a Zodiac Calendar!
Nine different artists (some of whom have helped out in the Chandlery!) came together to create a beautiful 100% fundraiser offering. Each zodiac sign of the year is represented by the different artist's style, interpretation and flare.
Words from the artists:
"A group of us, some friends, strangers, and acquaintances, came together from the comfort of our homes to create this astrology calendar for mutual aid.
Specifically to raise funds for Phillips neighborhood rent relief in Minneapolis MN, MCDANIEL RESILIENCY FUND in Portland OR, and to support our local community member who is choosing to self deport in the near future for their safety and wellbeing. The first $500 of our profits will go to this community member. What we make after that will be evenly distributed to these three separate funds.
We have the privilege to organize this project, while some of our neighbors are living in fear of going outside, to school, to the grocery store; while members in our communities are being disappeared by ICE, while bombs are being dropped on our friends and family in Palestine, Lebanon, and Iran; while humanity is witnessing crime after crime in Sudan, Congo, Cuba, Venezuela, Chili, The Philippines and beyond. Things are terrifying and enraging right now, and feeling MORE rage, fear, sadness, grief, and despair may be appropriate.
Mutual aid work becomes deeply intersectional because people's lives are intersectional. This fundraising project is in solidarity, not charity.
In capitalism we are encouraged to be numb to our own and other's pain. Capitalism is immobilizing. Our astrology calendar is about turning toward the grief and engaging with principle and whatever tools we have at our disposal. We are all in pain, and NO ONE IS FREE UNTIL WE ARE ALL FREE. BUT we all have ways we can show up for each other. And some of us still have so much privilege, we must do what we can with that privilege, WHATEVER IT TAKES. When we do this work, whether it's popular or not. When we show up with integrity, when we care about all the people around us, make offerings, and expect to make mistakes and receive feedback, the reward is not going to be some moment of fame or perfection. It will be the ongoing ups and downs of being connected to other people. We can imagine a world without borders, prisons, or wars. We can imagine a world in which indigenous people are restored sovereignty over the lands that have been taken from them.
