This box was created as a collaboration between jonah aline daniel and cherry kaufman. In the wake of the death of two disabled oracles and community members, Patty Berne in 2025 and Alice Wong in 2026, jonah and cherry came together to grieve, share wisdom and create this offering. This box weaves in the 10 Principles of Disability Justice through hand-painted depictions, the Poetry Zine is a collection of work by disabled writers, and the Memorial and Ancestor Honoring Candle depicts adapted art created by Ashanti Forston ( @ashantifortson), previously appearing in the Community As Home Project.
We hope this box supports our communities in connecting with guidance from our disabled ancestors and a renewed commitment in 5787 to deepening our Disability Justice practices.
